With the regular season winding down, the intensity went up a notch this week on the Frenzy. A few games that seemed like they were getting out of control quickly ended up to be close games this week.
Week 8 of the Friday Football Frenzy featured highlights from the following games:
Mequon Homestead at Germantown
The Homestead Highlanders got off to a quick start at Germantown. With early touchdowns from sophomore receiver Jack Popp and running back Eric Wade in the early going, Homestead put themselves in comfortable position to move on to 8-0.
In classic Frenzy fashion, things got a little less comfortable for the Highlanders as Germantown would not go down without a fight. The Warhawks responded with 20 points in the fourth, but that would not be enough to beat the Highlanders. They remain undefeated on the year after eight games.
Greendale at Brown Deer
Another undefeated team, the Greendale Panthers, showed no mercy in the first half of Friday’s matchup against the Brown Deer Falcons.
After suffering a few injuries and dealing with a potent Greendale blitz for most of the night, the Falcons didn’t get on the scoreboard until the third quarter. By that time, this one was already in the books.
Greendale cruised to 8-0 on the year with a huge 47-14 win against Brown Deer on the road.
Elkhorn at Lake Geneva Badger
Following their 28-14 loss to Wilmot a week ago, the Lake Geneva Badger Badgers came into their game against Elkhorn with a huge chip on their shoulders.
The Badgers controlled this one from wire-to-wire, en-route to a 27-7 win over Elkhorn. They move on to 6-2 with a win over their Southern Lake Conference rivals.
Milwaukee Thomas More at Burlington Catholic Central
This one went down to the wire.
Fans at Burlington Catholic Central found themselves a game while the two teams found themselves tied at 29 late in the game.
In the end, the Catholic Central Hilltoppers found a way to win late against Thomas More with a late touchdown. They win 35-29 and they are .500 on the year, at 4-4.
Wilmot at Burlington
The Burlington Demons got off on the wrong foot Friday against Wilmot after giving up the first points of the game on a fumble that was returned for a touchdown.
Things didn’t get much easier for Burlington as the night went on. Panthers’ running back Cameron Loveless turned in a productive night rushing, with 85 yards and a score on just 13 carries.
Wilmot rolls on to a four-game winning streak with a 27-0 win over Burlington. They are now 6-2 on the year with one game remaining in the regular season.
Mukwonago vs. Catholic Memorial at Waukesha North
Mukwonago benefited from a slow start by the Catholic Memorial Crusaders. They jumped out to a 10-0 lead but would struggle to put a bow on this one.
The Crusaders dug deep in the fourth quarter with two big scores. That would be all they needed to turn the tide as they move on to 7-1 with a 14-10 win over Mukwonago.
