It is either pure genius or pure insanity.
The photos sparked numerous angry comments, and even charges of racism. But Cannon also has his defenders who think what he did was hilarious.
In the photos, Cannon is wearing a light-colored wig and makeup, a beanie hat, jeans and a white T-shirt under a plaid shirt. He also dubbed himself as "Connor Smallnut."
Cannon also shared an Instagram pic of Robert Downey Jr.'s blackface character from the movie "Tropic Thunder," giving the character a shout out.
Cannon hasn't exactly kept quiet himself. He took to Twitter to tell people to relax and has been responding to many of the comments directed at him.
It's funny how people take themselves so seriously. People love drama! We feed off of it. Just relax and have fun!!— Nick Cannon (@NickCannon) March 24, 2014
He even changed the background of his Twitter page to the "Connor Smallnut" character.
As the saying goes, there is no such thing as bad publicity. Nick Cannon has definitely succeeded in drawing attention to himself and the fact that his new album is due to be released April 1.
