Film and TV actress Lily Tomlin and her partner of 42 years, writer Jane Wagner, were married in a private ceremony in Los Angeles on New Year's Eve, reports People and other media outlets. Tomlin is 74. Wagner is 78.
"They're very happy," says the actresses' spokesperson, Jennifer Allen.
"It has been reported that the two met when Tomlin was looking for a collaborator to help her develop the character of the wicked child Edith Ann," according to People
"Besides their relationship, the couple's many celebrated collaborations, written by Wagner, include Tomlin's Tony-winning one-woman show 'The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe,' which played on Broadway, toured and was filmed for the screen, as well as the movie 'The Incredible Shrinking Woman,'" People reports.
One of Tomlin's more recent roles was playing Reba McEntire's weed-loving mother on the short-lived ABC comedy "Malibu Country."
