In 1992, Billy Ray Cyrus gyrated his way to the top of the country charts with his debut single, "Achy Breaky Heart." The tune also reached No. 4 on the pop chart. This was the same year another Cyrus made her debut. Born Destiny Hope, she would later go by the name Miley, and make a name for herself by collaborating with hip-hop performers (not to mention doing some headline-grabbing gyrating of her own.
Now comes news that Billy Ray is planning to record a hip-hop version of his galvanizing hit, which, since its initial release has landed on several lists of worst songs ever. On Dec. 31, broadcaster Larry King broke the news with this tweet:
Just spoke with @billyraycyrus on the phone - he's recorded a hip-hop version of 'Achy Breaky Heart' - he's excited about it & so am I!— Larry King (@kingsthings) December 31, 2013
On Monday (Jan. 6), RadarOnline reported that Billy Ray is "casting hot young video vixens for the music video." The site also reports that "one L.A. model, who has starred in videos for urban artists including Chris Brown, tells Radar that the shoot will take place in the Los Angeles area by the end of the month."
No information has been issued about a single release for the tune yet.
