The classic and much-beloved 1980s movie "The Princess Bride" may be coming to the stage sometime soon.

The Los Angeles Times reported on Monday that the movie directed by Rob Reiner will be turned into a major stage production from Disney.

No details have been released and they have not said if it will be a musical or a play.

The movie was released in 1987 and starred a pair of lovers whose bond is tested by a series of fantastical adventures.

Although many 1980s movies are remembered fondly, "The Princess Bride" has achieved cult status. And not with just women. Many men are known to quote "Inigo Montoya" or "The Man in Black." RELATED: 25 Great Quotes from 'The Princess Bride'

Guardian columnist Hadley Freeman explains it pretty well. He says that the movie was such a success because it combined a nifty script, a dream cast and spot on direction by Reiner. He also says the movie achieves the "perfect balance of tone, treading just the right line between self-satire and earnestness, generic fairy tale and genre send-up."

Although stage adaptions of "The Lion King" and "Beauty and the Beast" proved to be wildly successful on stage, it has not been true for all of their stage adaptions. "Tarzan" and "The Little Mermaid" did not fare quite as well.

According to NY Daily News, there was an attempt to being "The Princess Bride" to the stage in 2007 but creative disagreements prevented its completion.
