The Storm 5 HD Weather team has one goal during severe weather: to be the absolute best source of weather information to keep your family safe. With that in mind, we're proud to offer a proven service to help us in our mission to get severe weather information to you as fast and accurately as possible. It's called WeatherCall.

You now have 2 options for WeatherCall safety alerts - WeatherCall @ Home and WeatherCall Mobile.

WeatherCall @ Home - Based on your street address

WeatherCall @ Home provides personal weather warning phone calls from chief meteorologist Ron Howes, based on your street address. It's the same service NewsChannel 5 has offered for the last two years.

WeatherCall Mobile - Based on locations where you frequently have your smartphone

WeatherCall MOBILE provides the same personal weather warning calls as WeatherCall @ HOME, but lets you enter multiple locations and see weather warnings from your smartphone.

This new service also includes the option to upgrade to WeatherCall LIGHTNING. Click HERE to learn more about the service and to sign up.

How does NewsChannel 5 WeatherCall work?

WeatherCall is a very precise storm warning service that uses your street address or predetermined location to alert you by phone or e-mail when you are in a location that is threatened by a tornado or other severe storm.

Those who live within the path of severe weather would get a call from Meteorologist Ron Howes warning them of imminent danger.

WeatherCall combines a new warning system used by the National Weather Service called Storm Based Warnings, which warns only for areas directly in the storm's path rather than for whole counties. This reduces the areal coverage of warning by as much as 75%, making them very accurate. This also means you'll have fewer interruptions for storms that don't hit your neighborhood. When the National Weather Service issues a warning, WeatherCall matches the warned area with your address. If your home is included, Chief Meteorologist Ron Howes will deliver the message directly to your phone at any time, day or night. You may register up to three phone numbers and even include your e-mail address if you desire.

Important features of our WeatherCall service:

  • Register up to three telephone numbers (home and cell numbers).
  • Register up to three e-mail addresses.
  • Have warnings sent to a digital cell phone through a SMS text message.
  • You will be notified for all tornado warnings that include your home.
  • You may choose to also receive Severe Thunderstorm Warnings and Flash Flood Warnings - it's up to you!

Here's the best part: WeatherCall is available for only $9.95 for the whole year, no matter how many warnings are issued.

We're very proud to offer WeatherCall. This is the best new technology on the market to alert you to when damaging storms are on the way. It's just one more way we're helping you stay safe in the storm! Sign up today and put the power of the WeatherCall and the Storm 5 HD Weather Team to work for you.
