RECIPE # 5185 - TWO NEW TWISTS ON COLE SLAW - Tuesday, June 10, 2014

Sweet and Tangy Coleslaw

1 c mayonnaise
1/2 c sugar
1/3 c white distilled vinegar
1/4 c ketchup
1/4 c vegetable oil
2 t prepared mustard
1 t Worcestershire sauce
1/4 t salt
1 T poppy seeds
1 head cabbage, chopped

Assemble utensils and ingredients. Combine mayo, sugar, vinegar, ketchup, oil, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and salt in the container of a food processor or blender., Process until well blended and smooth. Stir in poppy seeds. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Pour desired amount over chopped cabbage and toss to coat. Yield 12 to 16 servings

Apple Citrus Slaw

1 c mayonnaise
1/4 c apple cider vinegar
1 T finely chopped onion
1/2 t lemon zest
1/8 t black pepper
1/8 t salt
1 (16 ounce) package sliced mixed cabbage
1 apple, cored and diced, (Delicious or Granny Smith)

Assemble ingredients and utensils. In a small bowl, combine first 6 ingredients and mix well. In a mixing bowl, combine cabbage and apple. Pour dressing mixture over cabbage and apple mixture. Toss well to coat. Refrigerate until serving time, at least 30 minutes. Yield: 4 to 6 servings.
