SKIP HELM / NANA ROSA'S ITALIAN FOOD
3/4 lb ground veal
3/4 lb ground pork
1/2 lb ground beef
20 large basil leaves, finely chopped
5 medium garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 piece white bread, crust removed
1 c Italian bread crumbs
3 T olive oil
Soak bread in water and squeeze liquid out thoroughly. Mix all ingredients except Italian bread crumbs and work in with hands until mixture has even distribution. Roll into balls, then roll in Italian bread crumbs.
Heat olive oil in a large pan, add meatballs and cook until 165 degrees internal temperature is reached.
Remove from pan and serve meatballs with spaghetti and pasta sauce or on a sub roll.
