Seth Jackson is facing a first-degree murder charge after leaving his 10-month-old foster child in his car outside his residence. He allegedly remembered that he had accidentally left the baby inside the vehicle while watching HBO's "Game of Thrones" during a scene that involved a crying baby.
The Kansas foster father allegedly picked the infant up from a babysitter on July 24. After purchasing a pizza, he arrived home and brought the pizza and another foster child inside, but tragically left Kadillak Poe Jones in her car seat.
"He then allegedly smoked weed with his husband Payton Schroeder, with whom he looks after five other children, while watching one-and-a-half episodes of the hit HBO show," reports the New York Daily News. "Eventually, almost two hours later, he remembered that [Jones] was still in the vehicle."
The Wichita schools teaching assistant has fostered Jones since she was two weeks old.
"Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett said the first-degree murder charge was warranted because the baby died 'during the commission of an inherently dangerous felony - aggravated endangering of a child,'" further reports the New York Daily News.
Jones died of hyperthermia due to intense heat exposure.
Jackson was released after his $250,000 bond was reduced on Aug. 2. No charges have been filed against Schroeder.
