Mother, Daughter Back On Job After UCDD Settlement
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Two former employees of the Upper Cumberland Development District have settled their lawsuit against the Cookeville-based agency.
It follows that scandal uncovered by NewsChannel 5 Investigates.
Kathy and Ashley Pealer got their jobs back last week -- some two months after they were fired. They claimed the firings were in retaliation for refusing to go along with wrongdoing by former UCDD boss Wendy Askins and her million-dollar "Living the Dream" mansion.
As part of the settlement, UCDD agreed to pay Kathy Pealer $6,600 in back pay, while Ashley Pealer got $7,200.
The agency also paid out $8,000 for their attorney bills.
