Pool Company Shut Down After NewsChannel 5 Investigation
NASHVILLE, Tenn.- A local pool company that left dozens of homeowners in the area high and dry has been put out of business by state regulators.
NewsChannel 5 Investigates uncovered questionable business practices by a Middle Tennessee pool builder Premier Pools, after residents in four different local counties said the company left them with unfinished pools.
After the NewsChannel 5 Investigates report the company filed bankruptcy, leaving not only customers hanging, but also dozens of contractors and suppliers who haven't been paid and are owed nearly half a million dollars.
NewsChannel 5 Investigates discovered this wasn't the first time Ed and Anna Shanks, the couple running Premier Pools, have been done this sort of thing. Both pled guilty in Mississippi to charges that they took homeowners' money for a pool and didn't do the work and Anna went on to file bankruptcy.
On Tuesday, the state contractor's board voted to summarily suspend Premier Pools' contractor's license. The Board also called for a hearing on the case, perhaps as early as next week.
