2 Arrested In Connection With Tobacco Store Robbery
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Two men have been arrested in connection with a robbery at a tobacco store in Clarksville.
Officers were called to Rony's Smoke Shop on N Second Street just before 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12 after a silent alarm was pulled.
The store owner and another victim told responding officers that a man with a shotgun had just robbed them. The robber allegedly stole $400 from the cash register, $15 from the other man, and an unknown amount of Newport cigarettes.
When the robber fled the scene, the store owner ran after him.
The robber, identified as Shonquiel Fields, was arrested a short time later at Kelly's Big Burger. An employee at the restaurant told officers that she saw him go into the bathroom with a backpack, and come out without it. Officers found the backpack, containing packs of Newport cigarettes, inside the bathroom.
A sawed-off shotgun was found on Womack Street.
Fields was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and charged with robbery and using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Police also arrested Joseph Watkins, who posed as Fields' lookout, and charged him with Criminal Responsibility for Conduct of Another.
