COLUMBIA, Tenn. – A fire that killed a homeless man in Columbia over the weekend also destroyed a shed belonging to a 93-year-old man that contained countless antiques and memories collected over decades of the senior citizen's life.

The homeless man who was killed was secretly sleeping inside that shed.

It belonged to Wesley Hay, a retired mechanic in Columbia.

He said over the years he had collected antiques, old car parts and tools that were destroyed in the fire.

Monday, he went through the remains of his belongings inside that shed for the first time with his family.

"I see a lot of memories gone, they can't be replaced," said Tammy Pruitt, Wesley's daughter.  "I hate it for my dad, because he's not able to do a lot."

Investigators said it looks like the fire in Wesley's shed might have started when the homeless person inside was smoking, and then fell asleep.
