New Grading System Getting Good Reviews
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A new grading system at Metro Nashville schools is getting mostly good reviews.
The Tennessean reported teachers, principals and school administrators defended the system at a recent school board meeting.
Under procedures that began this school year, students are graded only on in-class work, they are given at least two chances to retake exams and they can't receive scores that are less than 50 percent.
Supporters say the system gives an accurate reflection of the students' knowledge and encourages them to keep trying when they're struggling to understand the material.
