Texas Fugitive Captured In Montgomery County

By Laken Bowles. CREATED Aug 6, 2014

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A fugitive wanted in Texas on capital murder charges has been taken into custody in Montgomery County.

Officials with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said 34-year-old Donald Tremaine Brown was arrested during a routine traffic stop after he was seen tailgating another vehicle. When deputies tried to get him to pull over, Brown allegedly tried to escape at a dead end.

He reportedly told Deputy Chris Bedell he was homeless.

“I saw him leave his vehicle and try to run,” Bedell said. “I tried taking him into custody, but he fought me, slamming me into a brick wall. I was finally able to subdue him and take him into custody.”

After he was taken into custody, Brown gave officials a false name and was booked into the Montgomery County Jail as, “John Doe.” He was later positively identified by fingerprint records.

According to arrest warrants from Dallas County, he has been accused of stabbing a man multiple times during a robbery in September 2012. The man later died from his injuries at an area hospital.

Brown has now been charged with aggravated assault, evading arrest and criminal impersonation, in addition to the charges he faces in Texas.
