NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Surveillance cameras installed all around a home on the 200 block of Largo Drive captured the homeowner being stabbed by his neighbor.
Daryl Dooley, age 51, told News Channel 5's Jennifer Reyes he was coming home around 8 p.m., when he saw 36-year-old Jerry Cowden assaulting his niece in the driveway.
Dooley separated the two and asked Cowden to go home. He also told him there were surveillance cameras all around his property.
Cowden could be seen on surveillance video following Dooley to his front door as he tried to get away from the situation.
During the scuffle between the two, Cowden allegedly brandished a knife and stabbed Dooley once below the chest area. Dooley's 12-year-old son witnessed the event and said he is shocked his neighbor did this to his dad.
“We were pretty nice to him… we were friends and we didn't expect that,” he said.
The affidavit said the suspect was taken into custody after police knocked on the door and spoke with him at his house. Officers reportedly found the knife with blood on it sitting on the floor in front of the suspect's bedroom.
Cowden allegedly admitted to the stabbing. He was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
