Green Hills Movie Theater Evacuated After Smoke Fills Auditorium
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Filmgoers were evacuated Saturday evening after smoke filled one of the auditoriums at a bustling movie theater in Nashville.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. at Regal Cinemas 16 in Green Hills.
Theater management told NewsChannel 5 smoke began billowing from one of the air conditioning units inside the building. The cause of the incident was not immediately known.
Moviegoer Julie Deaton was one of many who had to evacuate due to the smoke. Deaton said the worst part of the ordeal was not getting to see the end of the movie.
“We were at the very end of our movie when the lights and fire alarms came on and the announcement came on that said ‘everyone please go to the nearest exit,’ so everyone had to exit the theater and we had to go into the parking garage,” she said.
The theater will remain closed for the remainder of the evening. Everyone was given a free voucher to come back and see the film of their choice once the building reopens.
