Clarksville Police Warn Of Scammers Pretending To Be From IRS
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville Police want to warn citizens about a phone scam that has been recently reported in the area.
The Clarksville Police Department said scammers have been pretending to be from the Internal Revenue Service, calling residents and demanding money.
They said anyone who receives a similar call should hang up.
Authorities reminded citizens that the IRS will not call to demand money or threaten to arrest, deport, or revoke a license if the money is not paid immediately.
The IRS normally contacts taxpayers through mail.
The IRS has warned customers about similar scams that have been making the rounds since October 2013. For more information, go to http://on.nc5.co/1ptVEO7.
