Child Airlifted To Hospital After Near-Drowning In Rutherford County
RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. – A two-year-old boy was airlifted to an area hospital after a near-drowning in Rutherford County.
The incident was reported Wednesday afternoon, at a home off Compton Road in Lascassas.
Officials with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office said the boy, whose name was not released, was swimming in the family’s four-feet above ground pool earlier in the day.
The family went inside and the boy’s father and grandmother later discovered he had apparently gone back outside. He was discovered face-down in the pool.
“He had not been in the water long,” Sgt. Kauffman said. “He screamed and cried.”
The family began trying to resuscitate the boy and once officials arrived, they continued performing CPR on him.
EMS Officials said he was taken by LifeFlight to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, where his condition was not known.
