Rutherford County Crime Stoppers Line To Be Available 24/7

CREATED Jul 22, 2014
RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. – Anonymous tips to authorities can now be made around the clock in Rutherford County.

The announcement was made Monday at the Crime Stoppers Awards Banquet in Murfreesboro.

For years, the Crime Stoppers tip line only took calls Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Murfreesboro Police Department Major Clyde Adkison said the line will now take calls 24/7.

“This means we will have our tips line answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including holidays. This definitely is going to be groundbreaking for Rutherford County Crime Stoppers,” Adkison said.

Rutherford County now joins Metro-Nashville as one of only a handful of counties in the state that takes crime tips any time, any day of the year.

The anonymous crime tip program was initiated by community leaders 29 years ago.

“Since its inception Crime Stoppers has helped solve 975 crimes, aided in 321 arrests and recovered more than $1.2 million in narcotics and stolen property," Adkison concluded.

The number to call is (615)893-STOP (7867). Tips that lead to an arrest can earn up to $1,000 in cash
