NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly attacking his own daughter over unpaid rent.
Metropolitan Nashville Police charged Anthony Utley with aggravated assault following the alleged attack on Saturday.
The victim was treated at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital, where police were called. She told officers that she had gotten into an argument with her father regarding her paying him rent.
She called a friend to pick her up from the apartment complex, but said Utley followed them. After pulling over, Utley allegedly walked up to his daughter and strangled her.
She told officers she struggled to breathe, but was able to tell him to stop. After that, Utley allegedly slammed her into the car, where she injured her back.
At the hospital, the victim was treated for a dislocated shoulder and other possible internal injuries, according to the affidavit.
The victim told police she did not want to prosecute her father because she would have nowhere to go.
Utley was booked into the Metropolitan Jail on $50,000 bond.
