NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Leaders at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee are looking for hundreds of new mentors before school starts back up.

Big Brothers Big Sisters boasts a success rate that is pretty remarkable all through just spending time with one another.

There is currently a waiting list of kids in Middle Tennessee looking for someone to make a difference in their life.

The CEO said just a few hours a month is all it takes to have a huge impact on a young person's life.

In addition to the community based program, where "bigs" and "littles" spend time doing activities throughout the month, Big Brothers Big Sisters has a weekly school-based program which needs at least 250 new mentors before students start back in the fall.

"What we've been able to find is that these kids make huge jumps academically, socially, with their peer relationships, with their adult relationships, with their at risk behavior and also with the amount of kids that are going to college and finishing college," said Carlyle Carroll, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee.

The mentor relationships take a year-long commitment, but on average last much longer than that.
