Tennessee Unemployment Rate Sees Increase
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The number of unemployed workers in Tennessee increased during the month of June, according to a new report.
The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development announced Thursday that 6.6 percent of Tennesseans were unemployed -- two tenths of one percentage point higher than in May.
Over the past year, Tennessee's unemployment rate had decreased from 8.4 percent to 6.6 percent, while the national rate decreased from 7.5 percent to 6.1 percent.
Officials said the U.S. preliminary rate for June was at 6.1 percent.
