NASHVILLE, Tenn. – An 11-year-old girl has died after being injured in a multiple-car collision on Interstate 24.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said Alysia Johnson, of Clarksville, died Tuesday at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt from injuries sustained during a collision on July 8.

Police said Johnson was a passenger in the back seat of a Ford Explorer that was struck from behind by a vehicle being driven by 70-year-old William Miller, of Pierz, Minnesota.

No one else was seriously injured in the incident.

Police said the wreck was the result of Miller not paying attention to the roadway. No evidence of drugs or alcohol was found at the scene.

So far, charges have not been filed against Miller. The final investigative report will be reviewed by the District Attorney’s Office when it is completed.
