Franklin Man In Custody For Allegedly Kidnapping Girlfriend
FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Police in Franklin said a 21-year-old man has been taken into custody for allegedly kidnapping his girlfriend Tuesday evening.
Officials with the Franklin Police Department said Corey Johnson surrendered Thursday at a home in Nashville. No other details about the arrest were immediately released.
Police had issued warrants against him for Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Kidnapping, Evading with a Motor Vehicle, and Reckless Endangerment.
Police were called to Scruggs Avenue for a domestic disturbance around 11 p.m. Tuesday. During an altercation in the yard, police said Johnson drug his girlfriend out of family’s view, pushed her to the ground and began choking her. Witnesses said he told her he was going to kill her.
When authorities arrived on the scene, they said Johnson was seen leaving the area with the victim inside his SUV. After a struggle, she somehow managed to jump from the moving vehicle during the alleged assault.
Police said she was treated by paramedics at the scene. Her identity was not known.
On June 6, Johnson was arrested on charges of Theft, Reckless Endangerment and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon during a shooting that occurred two days earlier at Jewell’s Market, located at 1421 W. Main Street.
He was later released on a $3,000 bond.
