NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man wanted for questioning in Madison County for the murder of his father has surrendered to police in Nashville.

Officials with the Jackson Police Department said they were in communication with 29-year-old Clayton Nelson after his father, 57-year-old Jeffrey Nelson, was found murdered in his home.

Clayton Nelson was listed as a person of interest in the case.

Investigators were able to convince him to turn surrender police and made arrangements for him to surrender to a detective with the Metro Nashville Police Department around 10 a.m. Sunday.

Officers were called to Jeffrey Nelson’s home on Westwood Avenue in Jackson Saturday morning after a family member expressed concerned.

When they arrived on the scene, they found a side door opened. They went inside and found the man dead.

The cause of death was not released, but investigators believed it was an apparent homicide.
