One Killed, One Hurt In Rutherford County Utility Vehicle Crash
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – One person was killed and another injured after a utility vehicle crashed in an unincorporated part of Rutherford County.
Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said a man and woman were riding together southbound on Barlow Lane when the vehicle went off the left side of the roadway. It then struck a utility pole and went into a ditch.
The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
The male driver was killed. He was identified as 44-year-old Lee Sharber from Murfreesboro. Investigators said he had been drinking, but did not say if they believed if alcohol contributed to the crash.
The passenger was injured in the crash. She was identified as 43-year-old Leslie Johansen from Lascassas. Her exact condition was not available.
Both Sharber and Lascassas were wearing safety restraints.
Troopers were working to determine exactly why the utility vehicle went off the road.
