Jetty Down For Maintenance At Land Between Lakes
GOLDEN POND, Ky. (AP) - Some maintenance work at Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area will close the jetty next to the boat ramp at Fenton for a few days.
The closure starts Friday and continues Monday and Tuesday.
Officials said the jetty will be open over the weekend for fishing access. Large vegetation will be removed from the jetty. The boat ramp will remain open.
Recreation specialist Gary Hawkins says the work is being done to maintain the jetty's integrity, with tree roots being removed to avoid having them damage or break the jetty apart over time.
Land Between The Lakes manages more than 170,000 acres in western Kentucky and Tennessee and has more than 1.4 million visitors annually.
