3 Arrested In Alleged Human Trafficking Operation
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -Three suspects have been arrested in connection with an alleged prostitution operation that police said could have ties to human trafficking.
Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said 36-year-old Efren Guerra and 29-year-old Arnulfo Vasquez-Sanchez were arrested and charged with trafficking for commercial sex and promoting prostitution.
Maria Alarcon, age 25, was also arrested and charged with prostitution. The arrests were the result of a three month long investigation centered around an apartment unit in the Glengarry Heights complex off Winthorne Drive.
Police said Guerra was running the operation out of an apartment and would spread the word by handing out business cards in the Hispanic community.
Alarcon, of Illinois, was in the apartment when police executed a search warrant Wednesday night. She reportedly told detectives she arrived in Nashville on Monday by bus.
Police said they had reason to believe the prostitutes were frequently rotated in and out of the Nashville area and possibly smuggled in from Mexico.
The investigation remains ongoing.
