HERMITAGE, Tenn. – A small spike in crime has a tight knit neighborhood in Hermitage on edge.
Over the last two months, a series of break-ins have occurred in what is usually a very quiet neighborhood. Metro Police said the burglaries happened while most residents were at work.
Since June 1, five homes have been broken into and residents have started sharing suspicious activity they see on the neighborhood's Facebook page.
“A lot of those happen during the day when people are at work so you always think of crime at night, so that's a whole different aspect,” said Gretchen Brown with the neighborhood watch.
Police said they do a sufficient job patrolling the two-square-mile radius around the neighborhood.
Neighbors said they hope to see more of a visual police presence, especially during the daytime hours.
