Lawrenceburg Man Charged In Fourth Of July Attempted Murder

LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. – A Lawrenceburg man has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting a man on the Fourth of July.

Lawrenceburg Police arrested 29-year-old Jackie Lester on Wednesday in connection with the shooting of 27-year-old James Aaron Taylor.

Investigators said Lester and Taylor got into an altercation at a home in Lawrenceburg. When Taylor tried to get away, Lester opened fire.

Taylor was struck in the left hand and arm. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for treatment.

Investigators gathered evidence, including recovering the weapon believed to have been used in the shooting, after obtaining search warrants.

Lester was booked into the Lawrence County Detention Center on an attempted first degree murder charge. He was also charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

His bond was set at $110,000. A court date in Lawrence County General Sessions Court was set for September 5.
