11-Year-Old Girl Critically Injured In I-24E Crash
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – An 11-year-old girl was critically injured in a Tuesday afternoon crash that blocked Interstate 24 eastbound at the interchange with Interstate 65 North in northern Davidson County.
The multiple vehicle crash happened just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at exit 44B, just past Briley Parkway.
Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department tweeted that an 11-year-old girl was "very critically injured" in the crash. Details about the cause of the crash were not available.
The victim's identity was not released. It was unknown if anyone else was hurt.
Eastbound lanes were closed while police conducted their investigation, but it was cleared by 6 p.m. Westbound traffic was not affected.
The roads were wet from earlier rainfall at the time of the crash, but it was unclear if that was a contributing factor.
