Cities Across Mid-State Celebrate Independence Day One Day Early

CREATED Jul 4, 2014

SMYRNA, Tenn. - It may be a day early, but Independence Day celebrations were in full swing in some cities across Middle Tennessee.

Clarksville and Hendersonville were among the towns that held fireworks displays Thursday night. In Rutherford County, Smyrna held its annual firework display at Lee Victory Recreation Park, just off Sam Ridley Parkway.

Families came out to enjoy food, music and, of course, fireworks. Children were also able to take train rides and also play on an inflatable playground.

"It's a tradition we've done for so many years,” Jinny Stinnett, resident of La Vergne. “Everybody is happy and it's a fun thing to do.”

Those in attendance said they come back year after year.
