17-Year-Old Charged In Multiple Vehicle Burglaries
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A 17-year-old has been charged with breaking into multiple vehicles over the weekend.
Metropolitan Nashville Police took the teen from Pegram into custody on Monday night.
Early Sunday morning, a woman reported her 1996 Honda Accord had been stolen from the parking lot of her apartment in the 400 block of Belle Valley Drive.
An officer spotted the stolen vehicle on Harpeth Bend Drive, and recognized the 17-year-old driver. When the officer attempted to turn around and stop the car, the teen allegedly drove off at a high rate of speed and crashed through a guard rail at the dead end of Harpeth Bend Drive.
The driver and two others jumped from the car, and ran off. Police recovered items taken during other vehicle break-ins were found in the crashed Honda.
The other locations where the vehicles were broken into Saturday night and Sunday morning included Edwin Warner Park, the 100 block of Westerly Drive, the 800 block of Mountain Valley Drive, and the 500 block of Hicks Road
The teen was charged in Juvenile Court with evading arrest, vandalism, four counts of burglary of a motor vehicle and theft of the Honda. Police said additional charges were pending.
The 17-year-old has had previous arrests for theft, evading arrest, vandalism, and domestic assault.
