CREATED Jul 1, 2014
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Police are investigating a weekend carjacking and robbery in Clarksville.

It happened around 4:25 a.m. Saturday at the Exxon on Dover Road. Clarksville Police said 22-year-old Nicolas Johnson told them a man attacked him, took his keys and drove off in his vehicle.

Johnson told NewsChannel 5 he was getting into his car to leave when the man suddenly ran up and block him from closing his car door.

“He’s like give me your phone and your wallet. Give me your phone and your wallet. And I start backing away and at that point is when he jumps on me," he said.

That led to a fight, which ended up going inside the store.

Johnson said the man threaten to cut and stab him as he kept fighting to get his keys, wallet and cell phone.

“He pretty much ripped my shirt off my body. I mean, he was just trying to get at me," said Johnson.

The store clerk saw the scuffle and yelled at the robber. The robber got the car keys, jumped over the counter and ripped the cash register off of the counter. He then fled the scene in the Johnson’s rental car.

The car was soon found wrecked on Locust Drive, but the robber had fled on foot. He has not yet been located.

The investigation was ongoing.
