Gallatin Police Warn Against Scam From Spain
GALLATIN, Tenn. – Police have issued a warning to residences about a new scam in Middle Tennessee that originated from Spain.
Officials with the Gallatin Police Department said a victim received a letter claiming he was the beneficiary of a large sum of money. The scam apparently originated from Spain and requests the victim to contact them by phone or email.
Police said the scam offers a percentage of the funds to the receiver, the scammer and a percentage to a charity of choice. The same scam has claimed victims in countries outside the U.S., including Canada and Australia.
