TBI Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting In Millersville

CREATED Jun 27, 2014

MILLERSVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating after a Millersville Police officer opened fire on a domestic assault suspect who pointed a gun at police.

Around 3 a.m. Friday, two Millersville Police officers responded to a domestic assault call at Owl's Roost Campground on Bethel Road.

Investigators said a man pulled a gun and pointed it at one of the officers. The other officer shot the man in the leg.

“It was a complaint of a disturbance in the area, and an officer did respond. And gunfire did ensue,” said Millersville City Manager Robert Mobley.

The suspect was taken to Skyline Medical Center. His name and condition were not immediately known.

A neighbor told NewsChannel 5 the man had just moved to the camp ground on Thursday.

A large section of the campground was roped off with crime scene tape as investigators worked the scene. The TBI was interviewing neighbors as the investigation continues.
