Fire Damages Home Near Downtown Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A vacant home just south of downtown Nashville was damaged by fire on Monday night.

Firefighters were called to a house fire on 2nd Avenue South, near Lafayette Street, around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

When they arrived they found heavy smoke coming from home. Once inside, they discovered a fire in the kitchen area.

They were able to put it out quickly, but the kitchen area suffered extensive fire damage. The rest of the house was damaged by smoke.

Fire officials said the home was under construction and no one was living there.

No word on what caused the fire. The investigation was ongoing.
