I-65S Near Rivergate Reduced To One Lane This Weekend
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Officials have warned of significant delays this weekend along Interstate 65 southbound near the Rivergate area, as travel will be reduced to one lane during bridge repair work.
Starting at 8 p.m. Friday, Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will close two southbound lanes between mile markers 95 to 98.
One lane will remain open from Mansker Creek to Rivergate Parkway. Two lanes will remain open from Rivergate Parkway to CSX railroad.
Crews will cutting out and replacing parts of the concrete bridge deck overe Mansker Creek, East Cedar Street, Long Hollow Pike, Rivergate Parkway, and CSX railroad bridges.
Work will also be done to rebuild a portion of the median barrier wall and to repaint parts of the repaired bridges.
Crews will also mill and pave a portion of the interstate.
Drivers are urged to plan ahead and avoid the area if possible. If drivers cannot avoid the area, motorists should use caution, reduce speed, and be alert to changing conditions in the work zone.
This closure will end Monday at 6 a.m.
TDOT said the work will take approximately 10 weekend lane closures as well as occasional weeknight lane closures, but each closure will be limited to either the northbound or southbound lanes.
The $4.9 million project is expected to be completed by November.
