Wilson County Man Arrested For Possession Of Child Pornography
LEBANON, Tenn. – A Wilson County man has been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography after officials found more than 7,500 digital images and 6 videos on his computer.
Officials with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said an indictment was issued by the Wilson County Grand Jury Tuesday against 30-year-old John Watkins from Lebanon.
TBI Special Agents began investigating Watkins in March 2013 at the request of 15th District Attorney General Tommy Thompson.
During their investigation, agents discovered that Watkins was in possession of thousands of photos and a half-dozen videos that showed minor children engaged in sexual activity.
Their investigation led them to a storage unit and computer equipment belonging to Watkins. According to the TBI, Watkins admitted to collecting and distributing the images since 2000.
The grand jury indicted Watkins with one count of sexual exploitation of a minor. He turned himself in at the Wilson County Jail Tuesday, and was being held on $550,000 bond.
Officials said Watkins could face additional charges as their investigation continues.
