Fire Destroys Mobile Home In Sumner County

CREATED Jun 17, 2014

SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. – A family’s home was destroyed by fire overnight in Sumner County.

The mobile home on Corum Hill Road in Castalian Springs was engulfed in flames when fire crews got on the scene around 11:30 p.m. Monday.

Firefighters said the man who lives there was working on a piece of equipment on the back porch when it caught fire. The flames quickly spread throughout the home.

No one was hurt.

It took fire crews several hours to get the blaze under control.

“We got a pretty good knockdown on it, but there were several layers of shingles and an additional roof built on top of the existing roof, and presented a little problem,” said Ken Weidner with Sumner County Fire.

The home was considered a total loss. The Red Cross did not respond because the family had a place to stay.
