NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A 25-year-old man will undergo a mental evaluation after police said he barricaded himself inside an east Nashville home on Monday night.
Metropolitan Nashville Police said a woman called to report that her son had fired a gun inside a home on Meridian Street just before 9:30 p.m.
The SWAT team arrived and found the woman and her daughter hiding in a bathroom. They were able to get them both out safely through a window.
Authorities were able to talk the man out of the home about an hour and a half later, and immediately took him into custody.
Police said the man will undergo a psychological evaluation, but charges were pending. Police said he has several prior arrests.
Two guns were recovered inside the home.
