5 Teens Injured After Train Collides With SUV
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Five teenagers were injured Saturday, after an SUV was struck by a train in West Nashville.
The incident was reported just after 6 p.m. near Highway 70 and McCroy Lane. Metro Police said the driver pulled too close to the tracks and the vehicle was clipped by the train as it passed.
The teens' identities have not yet been released.
Witnesses ran to the scene of the crash in an effort to help the juveniles.
"We talked to them, we kept them talking so that they wouldn't go into shock. You just do what you got to do. It's human nature," said Carmen Beasley who called 911.
One person had to be extracted from the mangled vehicle. At least two of the victims were critically injured and transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
