One In Custody Following Hostage Situation At Lawrenceburg Pharmacy

LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. - Lawrenceburg police were called to the CVS store on Gaines Street Thursday evening due to a hostage situation inside.

Police say it all started with call about a man shoplifting at the Walmart on Locust Avenue. When officers arrived the man was leaving Walmart and led police to the CVS Pharmacy on Gaines Street.

The man ran inside the store with his hand gun. Police say he went behind the pharmacy counter with the gun with shoppers inside the store.

After a short time they were able to take 34 year-old Robert Chad Dillon into custody.

Charges have not been finalized but police confirm Dillon will face multiple charges including kidnapping and weapon charges.

U.S. Highway 64 and U.S. Highway 43 were shut down for a short time during the standoff.

The Maury County SWAT team along with the Tennessee Highway Patrol were called in to help assist Lawrenceburg police.
