Police Suspect Foul Play In West Nashville Death

CREATED Jun 12, 2014
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man has been found dead in his West Nashville home, and investigators said they suspect foul play.

Officials said family members went to the home of 40-year-old Amkha Vetvong on Ries Avenue Thursday morning to do some yard work. They became suspicious after discovering the front screen door had been broken and what looked like blood on the front door steps.

When they went inside they found Vetvong dead inside and called police.

Officers from the Metro Nashville Police Department were called out to investigate. They said the early investigation show Amkha was shot and found in the living room of the home near the front door.

The victim's sister-in-law, Sherry Vetvong, said Amkha worked late hours as a LPN and didn't have any known enemies.

She said the family was shocked and hurt.

Police are waiting for the autopsy to be completed to determine the actual cause of death.

The victim’s mother and other family members lived next door. They told police they heard nothing out of the ordinary at the house.
