Westbound Lanes Of I-40 Blocked Near Charlotte Pike
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The right lanes of westbound Interstate 40 have been blocked after a tractor trailer overturned on the west side of Nashville.
The crash was reported at 12:30 p.m. just after the Charlotte Pike interchange. Video from the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s SmartWay cameras showed the trailer on its side and blocking the interstate.
Rain had moved through the area and the roads were wet, but it was unclear if weather was a factor in the crash. Information about any injuries was not available.
One lane of westbound traffic was opened while crews worked to clear the scene. Traffic was backed up for several miles while drivers tried to get past the wreckage.
Eastbound lanes were not affected.
TDOT officials expected to have the scene cleared by 5 p.m.
