Coffee County Man Arrested In Gruesome Murder Case

CREATED Jun 10, 2014
MANCHESTER, Tenn. – Sheriff’s deputies have arrested that man they said committed a gruesome murder at his home and tried to dispose of the body.

Investigators with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office were given information Sunday that 37-year-old Gregory Skott Hale had killed a woman.

After responding to his home outside Manchester on Pete Sain Road, they found the woman’s body. They took Hale into custody.

Details about the circumstances that lead to the woman’s death were not released, but officials did say that after killing the woman, Hale dismembered her and then cannibalized part of her body.

The Tullahoma News reported Hale then burned what was left of the body.

The victim’s name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Hales was charged with first degree murder and abuse of a corpse. He was scheduled to appear in court on June 23.

Bond was set at $1.5 million.
