CREATED Jun 9, 2014
GATLINBURG, Tenn. – Celebrity chef Paula Deen was in East Tennessee over the weekend to open a new retail cooking store.

The "Paula Deen Store" was opened Friday in downtown Gatlinburg, a few miles from a new restaurant she also opened in the area.

Deen was welcomed by a big crown that turned up for the opening of the store. To celebrate the new store, Dean presented a $10,000 check for the Boys and Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains.

A second restaurant has been planned for the Pigeon Forge area later in the summer.

Nearly a year since the Food Network pulled the plug on her TV show, Paula Deen also planned to bring a 90-minute live show back to the state, as part of 20 shows across the U.S. Both Nashville and Pigeon Forge have been announced as two of the stops.

The 90-minute "Paula Deen Live!" shows will feature a mix of cooking demonstrations, games for audience members and personal stories.

Deen has been working on a comeback after her admission last year to having used racial slurs in the past.

Other cities announced for the tour included her home base of Savannah, Atlanta, and San Antonio, Texas. The tour kicks off June 21 in Pigeon Forge..
