Police: Man Shot While Protecting Daughter From Gunfire

CREATED Jun 6, 2014
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man was shot while protecting his own daughter from the gunfire.

A Davidson County affidavit said it happened Thursday at a home on Meadow Court.

The victim told police that his ex-girlfriend had showed up at his home with a female friend and another man. The day before, he said his ex-girlfriend had been arrested on an aggravated assault charge for allegedly threatening him with a gun.

The affidavit said the victim and his ex-girlfriend began fighting, and he told her she could not be at the home. From there, the victim said gunshots rang out and he dove on top of his daughter, who was standing next to him.

He was struck in the stomach, but said he did not know who had opened fire. His condition was not immediately known.

The ex-girlfriend fled the scene in one vehicle, while the man and her friend fled in another vehicle.

Police stopped both vehicles nearby at the intersection of Dickerson Road and Bellshire Drive.

A neighbor told police that it was a man who had opened fire, and police arrested 23-year-old Reginald Osborne on an aggravated assault charge.

Osborne was held at the Metro Jail on $150,000 bond.
