Ex-Con Arrested In Connection With Burglaries
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – An ex-convict wanted in connection with at least three burglaries in the Nashville area was taken into custody over the weekend.
Officials with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said 45-year-old Deshun Harvey was arrested Sunday afternoon after he was caught shoplifting at the Walmart store on Charlotte Pike. Police said he was caught hiding $78 in merchandise in shopping bags and trying to walk out of the store.
He was charged with eight offenses, including theft, aggravated burglary, vandalism, criminal impersonation, and a probation violation.
Police issued warrants for Harvey's arrest in early June. They believe he was involved with the burglary of a room at the downtown Sheraton Hotel on May 18; the theft of a laptop from the TSU campus on April 23; and the theft of a purse from Meharry Hospital on March 26.
Police said Harvey has been convicted of eight burglaries, multiple thefts and robbery from 1987-2007.
He last received an eight-year sentence for burglary in 2007.
Harvey was also wanted for questioning in connection with the burglary of a room at the Holiday Inn Express on Broadway, which also occurred on May 18.
Harvey's bond was set at $60,000.
